Hi! Happy Saturday! There are now two sections of bysaraidtaylor.
Sport:
Coined the secret journal of a professional athlete, SPORT is the section of bst that analyses and compares rumours, shaves them down to fact and then publishes stories, from inside leagues and institutions, that have not been shared publicly before.
Topics range across codes but always centre community and justice in conversations around performance, fame and power.
Art:
Is the section of bst that shares excerpts of my latest pieces of fiction, poetry and memoir, along with art summaries and reviews.
how much of me do you want to see?
I understand some of you are only here for the sport. Others just for the art.
SPORT gets you either a new exposé, such as:
or something like an interview, including:
delivered to your inbox every second Friday.
ART gets you a piece of writing or a review every alternative Monday; and a summary of my top book recommendations at the end of each month.
You can choose to receive SPORT, ART or both by going to your Account Settings.
You’ll see your subscriptions. It should look like the image below, though might say free or comped instead of paid, depending on your subscription.
Click edit or the arrow next to bysaraidtaylor and select the sections you want to be subscribed to. That’s it. You can change this whenever you like.
Chat threads are explained in the strongest thread.
if you have a second, i’d love to know more about you.
I’m a person, you’re hopefully a person — and I’m interested in why you’re here. Leave a comment, or reply to this email, and tell me what you’re most keen to get: interviews, exposés, book reviews, novel excerpts?
How’d you find bst? What country are you located in? Do you skew more towards art or sport? Maybe you just like the idea of community? How often do you want to be receiving new work?
All replies and comments and critique (or compliments) — any feedback — is welcome, always. This project does not exist without you and I am so grateful you’re here.
Below is bst’s first monthly book review! G’day, january in books.
1. Vinegar Hill (1999)
— A. Mannete Ansay
Thoughts:
Suffocating, beautiful; exquisitely written.
