Victoria has a clear, simple process to reaching Australia’s professional basketball league.
It begins with many children playing basketball, usually on a Saturday morning. Some of these children are selected for representative teams on Friday nights. Some of those children are selected for high performance programs, and are then invited to try out for the, notorious and coveted, state team. These start at under-fourteens, but begin to operate through official national programs at under-fifteen, under-sixteen, under-eighteen and under-twenty level. They matter.
